Tom Umphreys joined the firm in 2002 and became a shareholder in 2005. Tom is currently the managing shareholder. He is a CPA and a lifelong resident of the Council Bluffs area. Tom has over 30 years of combined experience in corporate and public accounting.

Tom’s corporate experience spanned seven years with two multinational companies in accounting, consolidated financial reporting, federal compliance filings, and corporate acquisition due diligence.

In addition to serving individual tax clients, Tom has broad tax and accounting experience working with businesses in construction, manufacturing, distribution, retail and medical practices. He also provides CFO consulting services for business owners that need an experienced professional to come alongside to equip them to help their companies be more successful.

Tom holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Nebraska in Omaha. He is a member of the American Society of CPAs and Iowa Societies of CPAs. Tom is actively involved with his family and serving at First Christian Church in Council Bluffs.

Jeremiah R. Woltemath (J.R.) joined the firm in 2016 and became a shareholder in 2019. He is a CPA with nearly 20 years of public accounting experience and technical expertise in agriculture, construction, and real estate.

J.R. provides consulting, tax preparation, and planning services for Individuals, Sole Proprietors, farms, Limited Liability Companies, Corporate, Partnership, and Non-profit clients, as well as accounting and auditing services for construction contractors and other small businesses. J.R. enjoys consulting with clients regarding CFO services such as strategic planning, financial analysis, profitability management, entity planning, succession planning, and estate planning.

J.R. graduated with a Bachelor of Science and an MBA from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and began public practice in 2004. He is a member of the American Society of CPAs and the Nebraska Society of CPAs.

Growing up on a livestock and row crop farm in southeast Nebraska, J.R. is deeply passionate about helping farmers and small business owners in small towns and rural communities succeed so that they can continue to pass on the traditions that have been passed down to them. He considers himself a lifelong learner and enjoys family, camping, hunting, fishing, and helping on his family’s farm in southeast Nebraska.

Rachel L. Smith joined the firm in 2020 as a manager and became a shareholder in 2023. She is a CPA and is originally from Minnesota. She had lived in western Nebraska for 26 years and farmed with her family. Rachel’s family relocated to eastern Nebraska in 2020. She has over 25 years of experience in public accounting and has worked with governmental entities with auditing and budgeting engagements.

Rachel has extensive taxation experience with individuals, proprietors, farmers, partnerships, corporations, non-profits, and trusts. Rachel graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wyoming and began public practice in 1998. She is a member of the Nebraska Society of CPAs. Rachel has sat on various non-profit, church, and school boards. Rachel enjoys spending time with her family, cycling, traveling, sporting events, and tending to her flowers and chickens.
